It's a hot one. Even the englishmen and mad dogs will be staying mostly indoors today.

Hi Anna and Simon, I read that only unfertilized eggs are left in the nest, an egg with a dead baby inside would have been discarded. I see that they were getting some water to drink, from mother nature. Hope to see you on CASH CAB, winning some money!
Hello Simon Good to see you back in business with your webcam. I sure missed the view of the tourists walking like they're lost. Probably are. Will you consider expanding your webcam to other locations such as the seaport or the atrium in battery park city. Marina sure looks inviting. The city has so much to offer people willing to invest some walking time to discover these treasures. So get those walking shoes on and discover the area. It's free!
Hi Anna & Simon Your webcam provides our family endless entertainment; it's better than tv for the kids and the best medicine for a homesick Villager... Thank you for keeping us linked!
Hi Simon Can you you shed some light as to the where about of the doves? Are they still staying near by, and if Anna discarded the other egg. It feels like something is missing since the youngster left the nest and how he is doing. Would he also use the same nest where he was hatched to start his family when the time come? I can tell you're very concerned lilke many of us about the youngster. Keep up the good work and perhaps you will come across another birth to share with us.
I saw at least one young dove close-by in a small tree but this one looked a little older than I'd expected. The whole street is practically lined with trees so I'm guessing the doves are still around but spending most of their time now up in the branches.
Some of the tree branches are literally feet from the nest which seems to make it a handy nesting location for them. And as this was the third brood this year, I'd say it's an almost certainty that another pair of nesting doves will eventually show up.
I've been wondering too but really don't know for sure if the returners are related. It would be nice to think that the descendants use the same nesting location as the parents but I didn't catch sight of any distinguishing marks on john before he left. I'm not sure if I could tell if it was him if he came back.
great webcam! this picture was downloaded by my brother when I was at a bachelor party last summer (june) me to the left, and the bachelor to the right :-)

I wonder if a dove can know that he is adored and loved by a group of human beings!
Probably not...

I've been living here 36 years and I've never seen as many doves as I have this year. Loved the nest. Would love to see more of that.
