I remember this festival well. Loved the way it blocked the street, ticking off the drivers and making the locals feel like they lived in the burbs. Thanks!
Hi, regarding your new voting page, perhaps you could post some screenshots of what we would see if you was to move the camera left or right. Would make it easier to decide.
Hi This is for the person asking for some screenshots. I'm familiar with the area. If simon moved the camera either way, it will no longer be approporiate to call it MacDougal & Bleecker St because too much of one street will not make it recognizable. Most people do not notice nor remember names of places and identified the street it's on. That's not to say, your suggestion of another view won't work. Would be nice maybe to see it from another perspective.
I like the current camera position as it is but maybe some screenshots anyway so we can visualize where all those people are heading when they leave the current view :)

I used to live above the Wine Bar! Finding this cam in 2004 after moving to London helped me get over being homesick. I now live in Chicago and still visit the site frequently. The best kabob in the city can be had right on that corner at Yatagan. Please don't ever change the view and thanks so much the cam!
I spent a cozy afternoon last January in your cafe, and took what turned out to be my favorite picture from that trip there, sitting at a table by the front window. (You can see it here, http://woosblog.blogspot.com/. posted on May 5, 2006.) I was pleasantly surprised to run across the cam and your blog. Now I can go back to that cozy afternoon anytime!
just got back from a fabulous week in new york visiting my son who lives on McDougal Street opposite Figaro cafe. My fourth visit to NY and I just love it. I hope one day when I am viewing the camera I will see my son walk by - fingers crossed. It is a great webcam. ann from UK
Hey, the camera seems out of order since several days! There are plans to fix it ? I lived there and was nice to give a look from Rome Italy, where am now!
I lived on the the corner of Bleecker & MacDougal, above the Figaro, for 22 years. At first it was great, but it didn't take long to realize that it was just another one of those many places that used to be a scene. Now it's a bunch of shops, bars, and clubs trying to live in the past...and the Village's time has long passed. The "scene" has become a cheap imitation of what it was when it was real...if it was ever real, all for the sake of tourism. It's time to move on. It's funny reading the comments of people who maybe spent a few hours there, who don't have a clue.
I work in a basement office (without windows) just a couple of blocks from MacDougal & Bleecker Sts.; so I often use the live-cam to see what the weather is like outside before I go to lunch or leave at the end of the day. Do I need an umbrella? Thank you so much for this service.
I love this webcam, whoever organised it thank you so much. Thomas my son lives in McDougal Street so when I am missing him I just press the button and look on the webcam site. Silly but I feel so much nearer then - I know it is a mum thing, soppy but that's the way it is. I love New York, coming in November as he is running the marathon. I can't wait. Keep the camera going please
I love this web cam. I lived on Bleecker street for 10 years and miss NY like crazy, especially the neighborhood. I've been visiting this site often in the last few years now that i live in Los Angeles and it helps with my homesickness! Thanks so much.
I've been watching this from my home in New Zealand for a few months now. And now I'm living in Bleecker St for the next six weeks. If you see an idiot waving a lot on camera-- it's 'to all my NZ friends. The waiter at Ciao says he wayves to his family in Italy! Great fun..but this morning I see the angle has changed?
So where are all these people coming from? Is this somewhere I want to visit? Are there hotels nearby? From this shot it looks like a mini Bourbon Street. So? Or no?
I'm from Wisconsin, so you have to explain things to me.
MAYBE SOME CRUMBS WILL BE LEFT BEHIND FOR OUR DOVE-LOVED ONES()>

Cam image seems to be "frozen" ....has it been taken offline again?
As New Yorker who has moved away, this cam has helped me when I'm homesick....like many others have commented!! I hope it's not going away.

It seems like the camera died soon after the angle was changed. Is anyone in charge? Will it be turned on again? I miss it a great deal.
